Boyde Homes — Brand & Website Case Study

A real estate practice that outgrew the template. Boyde Homes started on Webflow with a clean, professional site I designed myself. It worked. But it looked like every other agent’s website. The rebuild wasn’t about fixing something broken. It was about building infrastructure that matches the kind of practice I’m actually running.

01 The Starting Point

A good site that looked like everyone else’s.

Boyde Homes started on Webflow. I designed it myself, and it was a good site. Responsive, clean, professional. It did exactly what a real estate website is supposed to do, and it looked better than most.

But that was the problem. It did what real estate websites are supposed to do. A hero image, a link to search homes, a headshot, and a contact form. You could swap out the name and the photo and it could belong to any agent in the country. That’s not the kind of business I wanted to build.

02 Why It Changed

The business needed a platform, not a brochure.

I got my broker’s license in August 2025. From the start, I knew I didn’t want to compete on volume or cold calls. I wanted to build a practice where clients come to me because I actually know something useful, where the relationship starts with value before it starts with a transaction.

That meant the website couldn’t just be a digital business card. It needed to be a platform where I’m publishing consistently, sharing what I’m learning, and giving my audience real access to the research and thinking that goes into advising someone through a home purchase. I wanted to be a guide through the full journey: buying, owning, and eventually selling.

Webflow handled the design well. Where it fell short for me was the deeper infrastructure. I needed structured data I could build automation around, an API layer for custom publishing workflows, and the kind of flexibility where I could ship a new piece of content in minutes without working around the platform. Webflow’s CMS works fine for a lot of people, but for what I was building, I needed something I controlled completely. So I rebuilt from scratch.

03 What Got Built

Same designer, completely different architecture.

The new site is a custom build with full control over every layer of the stack. The blog engine was the priority. Structured content with a real publishing pipeline, SEO built into the architecture from the start, and a system that lets me go from idea to published post without friction. The site isn’t a brochure anymore. It’s infrastructure.

Beyond the content system, the redesign sharpened the brand. Boyde Homes isn’t trying to be Zillow. It’s a real estate practice built on guidance over salesmanship, transparency over pressure. I wanted my audience to be the most informed buyers and homeowners in the room, with access to the same insights and research I use to advise my clients.

  • Custom Blog Engine Structured content with a publishing pipeline, automated workflows, and built-in SEO architecture.
  • Content Strategy Four defined pillars: market insights, buyer education, neighborhood context, and investment thinking.
  • Brand Refresh Sharpened visual identity and messaging that positions the practice around guidance and transparency.
  • SEO Foundation Architecture-level search optimization built into the site structure from day one.
  • Full Publishing Control Complete ownership of the data, the workflow, and how everything connects.

04 Design Decisions

Confident but not loud. Clean but not cold.

The visual identity reflects the practice. Boyde Homes isn’t flashy. It’s knowledgeable, calm, and not trying to sell you anything. The palette is intentionally restrained: no gradients, no neon call-to-action buttons screaming at you. The content does the work.

Deep Navy anchors the brand with authority. Steady Blue provides a modern accent without competing for attention. Ink keeps the typography sharp and readable. Warm White gives the content room to breathe. Every color choice serves a purpose: let the writing and the photography lead.

SwatchNameHexPurpose
Deep Navy #0C1D2E Primary — authority and trust without being corporate
Steady Blue #3B8DD4 Accent — modern and approachable, used for interactive elements
Ink #0A0A0A Text — sharp, high-contrast readability
Warm White #FAFAF8 Background — soft warmth that lets content breathe
  • Display: Plus Jakarta Sans — clean geometric sans-serif for headings and UI elements
  • Body: Instrument Serif — editorial warmth for long-form content and blog posts

05 What’s Different Now

The Webflow version was a business card. This version is a practice.

The old site was good design without an engine behind it. The new site is a system. A blog that publishes consistently across defined content pillars. SEO architecture built into the foundation, not added after the fact. A site that positions me as a resource first, someone worth following before you ever need an agent.

I didn’t rebuild because the old site was bad. I rebuilt because the business I’m building deserves better infrastructure than a template can provide, even a well-designed one. The content I publish isn’t marketing copy designed to generate clicks. It’s what I’m actually learning, researching, and thinking about as I build this practice. The site is the expression of that.

06 The Bigger Picture

If your website doesn’t reflect the quality of what you do, the gap is costing you.

This rebuild closed that gap. Not by throwing away something that wasn’t working, but by building something that matches the ambition behind the business. A platform that grows with the practice. A brand that earns trust before the first conversation. A site that does the work so I don’t have to sell.

If you’re a business owner and your online presence doesn’t reflect the quality of what you actually do, that disconnect is costing you every day. The fix isn’t a redesign. It’s better infrastructure.
